ROTARY SWITCH — 11-19 POWERSTROKE 6.7L
Never work on a hot vehicle. Let it cool before starting, and wear eye protection when working on or under it. Route the wires away from hot surfaces and moving parts, and secure them so they cannot rub on a sharp edge. By installing this product you assume all risk and liability for its use.
Wiring the rotary shift-on-the-fly switch into the fuel temperature sensor harness on a 2011–2019 Ford F-250/F-350 Super Duty 6.7L Power Stroke. The switch wires go through the firewall to the sensor, into the supplied plug, and the plug snaps onto the factory harness in place of the sensor. 2011–2014 trucks have a 2-wire sensor and 2015–2019 a 4-wire sensor; the connection is the same. The switch needs a SOTF tune on the truck to do anything. Kit contents: A. Loomed electrical wires B. Dial stickers C. Switch control board D. Harness plug E. Switch knob F. Allen wrench
Steps
1 Route the switch wires through the firewall to the fuel temperature sensor
Feed the purple and black wires from the switch through the firewall and across the engine bay to the fuel temperature sensor, as pictured. Keep them clear of anything hot or moving and secure them along the way.
2 Unplug the sensor and cut back the sheathing
Unplug the fuel temperature sensor and carefully cut back about 1.5" of the protective sheathing from the harness side, without nicking the wires inside.
2011–2014 trucks have a 2-wire sensor; 2015–2019 trucks a 4-wire sensor. On 2011–2014 trucks, also remove the blue alignment clip from the harness connector.
3 Pin the switch wires into the supplied plug
Push each pin into the plug until it clicks. The purple wire goes to the position that meets the harness's green wire, the black wire to the position that meets the green/white wire.
4 Connect the plug to the factory harness
Snap the new plug onto the factory male side plug and make sure it seats fully for a sure connection.
5 Check the switch has five positions
From all the way left, the switch should click four times to the right, giving five tune positions. If it clicks more than that, remove the knob and move the set pin washer to the correct groove, between the 5th and 6th slot, as pictured.
6 Troubleshooting
You need a voltmeter. Set the switch to position 1 and turn the key to Run, engine off or on. Test the switch-on-the-fly wire, the purple one. The reading varies a little within each level (4.0–4.9 in position 1, for example) but should be close to:
Level 1: 4.5 V
Level 2: 3.5 V
Level 3: 2.5 V
Level 4: 1.5 V
Level 5: 0.5 V
High idle: 5.0 V
If the readings do not match, check the connections and pins for anything bent or broken, and make sure no debris is stopping a pin seating fully. If it persists, get in touch with us.
